HGV has an established strategic relationship with Canadian-based Parallax Ventures Inc. (“Parallax” or the “Company”) to manage all investments in the portfolio.
Parallax is a highly experienced portfolio consulting firm focused on high growth industries. The Company specialises in providing intimate market knowledge in various sectors including cannabis, healthcare, technology, natural resources, battery tech and other environmentally sustainable investments. Parallax is led by Michael Curtis and Mohan Nair who combined have nearly 50 years’ experience in public and private capital markets globally.
The agreement with Parallax offers numerous benefits to Shareholders, including:
- enhancing access to new investment opportunities, including unlisted investments;
- an Investment Management Agreement – Parallax is required to give HGV priority to invest in opportunities;
- that it meets HGV’s investment criteria;
- adding material value to existing investments;
- minimising HGV’s fixed cost structure; and
- securing a meaningful investment presence in one of HGV’s key investment market – North America.
The key terms of the Investment Management Agreement with Parallax are detailed in section ten of the Additional Information required by ASX Listing Rules in the 2022 Annual Report.
Michael resides in Toronto, Canada and is an experienced former investment banker and private equity executive. He has 20 plus years’ investment banking and management experience in London, New York, San Francisco and Toronto, working for firms including RBC Dominion Securities, Lehman Brothers and Canaccord Genuity. His focus is on cannabis, healthcare and other growth industries.
He is an active cannabis sector executive with significant investor, management and Board experience, having founded leading companies in the sector. Notable experience includes:
- Co-Founder and Vice President of Corporate Finance of Dosecann (an investee company prior to its successful divestment by HGV in 2018 to Auxley Cannabis Group Inc, formerly Cannabis Wheaton Income Corp for CAD38m).
- Co-Founder and former Chief Operating Officer and Director of Embark Health Inc. (a former investee company of HGV) recently sold to BevCanna Enterprises Inc for up to CAD31m.
- Co-Founder, Board member and Vice-President of Corporate development of ProteinQuest, an emerging market leader in protein-enhanced and functional foods (55% owned by BevCanna Enterprises).
Michael has a Master of Business Administration, University of New Brunswick, Major: International Finance and a Bachelor of Sciences (Honours), McMaster University.

Mohan resides in Toronto, Canada and is a seasoned capital markets executive with over two decades’ experience in various roles including portfolio management, institutional equity sales and investment banking.
The common theme throughout Mohan’s career is a desire to find, fund and provide guidance to entrepreneurs leading high growth companies. He has raised over a billion dollars in growth equity financing for companies in sectors including technology, natural resources and cannabis.
Currently he serves as a Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager for Parallax Ventures Inc. Outside of work, Mohan has a keen interest in geopolitics, history, ancient DNA, and motorcycle racing.
